Learn What to Bring to West Pines Behavioral Hospital

At West Pines Behavioral Hospital, we understand that beginning treatment and entering an unfamiliar environment can make you feel overwhelmed and uneasy. To help you prepare for your stay at our inpatient hospital in Westminster, Colorado, we’ve outlined the items you may and may not bring with you. Our goal is to maintain a safe and supportive healing environment for everyone in our care.  

To be best prepared for your time at our Westminster, Colorado, hospital, we recommend that all patients bring the items listed below. 

Clothing 

  • Up to three shirts (Only T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts are acceptable. Patients cannot bring any shirts that include hoods, drawstrings, or immodest imagery. Shirts must also not have any holes or fraying.) 
  • One jacket or pullover (These items cannot have hoods or drawstrings.) 
  • Up to three pairs of pants (Sweatpants, athletic pants, and jeans are acceptable, but they may not have any strings, holes, or fraying.) 
  • Shorts (All shorts must be knee-length or longer and cannot have strings, holes, or fraying.) 
  • Up to five pairs of modest underwear 
  • Up to three bras (Only sports bras or nonunderwire bras are allowed.) 
  • One set of pajamas (Pajamas must include a top and bottom.) 

Shoes & Socks 

  • Patients are allowed to bring one pair of shoes. Shoes must have full backs, and they cannot contain laces or elastic cords. 
  • Personal socks are not permitted. Patients will be provided with hospital-issued socks. 

Personal Items 

  • Eyeglasses and/or contact lenses 
  • One paperback book 
  • Possession and use of personal Cell Phones by patients, employees, and contractors is permitted on inpatient units of West Pines subject to the provisions of this policy and the Patient Use of Cell Phone Agreement.
  • Medications (If medications are not stocked in the hospital pharmacy, patients should bring them from home. They will be stored and dispensed by nursing staff only.) 

Please note that if an item is not included on this list, it is not approved to remain with patients while in our care. Those items will either be sent home or securely stored until the time the patient is discharged. These guidelines help maintain a safe environment for all patients. 

Any extra or unapproved items that are not sent home will be secured at the time of a patient’s admission to our hospital. Storage bags are sealed with tamper-proof tape and will be returned to the patient unopened when they are discharged.
