At West Pines Behavioral Hospital, located in Westminster, Colorado, we provide compassionate, high-quality behavioral healthcare services. We understand that you may have questions about our policies and procedures. Below, you will find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding visitation, medical records, and patient cellphone use.
What Is the Visitation Policy at West Pines Behavioral Hospital?
We recognize that the support of family and friends is an essential part of the healing process. However, for patients to gain the maximum benefits from hospitalization, visitation is only allowed during specified time frames. Patients will be notified of the visitation hours for their unit upon admission.
Visiting hours may be further restricted by the patient’s physician and are subject to change based on our community’s needs. Individual visits should not exceed one hour and should not interfere with scheduled therapies, unless a therapy session is set up for family involvement. Children age 13 and older may visit, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Special visiting times may be arranged with the patient’s therapist to accommodate individual schedules. Patients also have the right to refuse visitors, and they can do so by notifying our staff.
To promote a respectful and positive experience for everyone, we’ve outlined the following visitation etiquette:
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to visitation for check-in.
- Only guests who are listed on the patient’s visitor/phone consent list may visit.
- Children younger than age 13 cannot visit in person, but they may maintain contact through phone calls.
- Personal electronic devices, such as cellphones and smartwatches, are not allowed during visits, as they may compromise patient privacy and well-being. Visitors should leave these items in their vehicles.
- Patients can have no more than two visitors at a time in the visitation area. Families may need to stagger visits to comply with this limit.
- Outside food and beverages are not permitted. We provide balanced meals and snacks for each patient.
- Visitors should only bring essential items with them.
